The Town Hall Museum, which opened on December 19, 1976, is located in the in the Burgh Historic District and housed in the original Southfield Township Hall. The museum serves as the home to the Southfield Historical Society.

June 14, 2012: ERITY SCHOOL BELL RETURNS!

Darla Van Hoey, Southfield Historical Society President accepts the donation of the Erity School bell witnessed by donor Dave Sproat, Councilman Ken Siver, and Councilman Donald Fracassi.
Hoey and city fathers were pleased to accept the return of the Erity School bell, a vital piece of Southfield history.
Donor Dave Sproat, a former Southfield resident, contacted the museum early in the summer regarding returning the historic bell to it’s original home.
Mr. Sproat had received the bell from contractor L. A. Eldridge when Mr. Eldridge was demolishing the old Erity School building, which had stood at Evergreen and 13 Mile Roads. For many years the bell had adorned the Sproat family home in Shelby Township and was used to call the Sproat children home from play.

The bell makes a handsome addition to the schools display in the museum and, according to unofficial city historian and Councilman Ken Siver, is one of only two Southfield school bells still in existance.
